Where is your focus

Where is your focus? It can be a nagging question. I remember playing sports as a kid and hearing the coach yell, “focus” and I undoubtedly thought, “I am, quit yelling at me!” Life goes on though, from little league baseball and the need to focus on the ball to hit a home run (rather than striking out and looking like the kid who thought he was supposed to be scoping the stands for any cute girls to ask out).
Life goes on to more important things, families, careers, friends, you know – life. Things do change, but the importance of focus stays exactly the same. “Focus!” the coach proclaims. The difference now is that I sense that coach as Jesus, who is the one who isn’t merely trying to get me to hit a homerun so he looks good as a coach, but the one who wants me to focus because it’s what is best for me. I should probably make it clear, we all do focus – the question is, what are we focused on? Do I take time to focus on what really matters?
The question God would ask each of us is simple, “what do you see?” The answer to that question is based on what we are focused on. Do we see this trouble we are going through turning around? Do we see a bank account that has abundance? Do we see relationships that fulfill our life? Do we see a confident person in the mirror?
Psalm 1:1-3 Passion
1 What delight comes to those who follow God’s ways! They won’t walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner’s way, nor sits in the circle of scoffers. 2 Their pleasure and passion is remaining true to the Word of “I Am,” meditating day and night in his true revelation of light. 3 They will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss; bearing fruit in every season of their lives. They are never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.
Those who are focused on the goodness of Jesus experience the goodness of Jesus!
What do you see?!?!
