Day 4 of 21 day fast

Day 4 of 21 day fast

Hey Readers,

During this 21 day fast I’ve ask a few people to share encouragement with us and I’ll be posting it. Today’s comes from Pastor Joey Covey. Pastor Joey is the Care pastor at our church and below is great encouragement for us.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

When fasting we should refocus our attention from the food or item we are giving up and focus more on God. We should not concentrate on what we are giving up or missing in our diet or routine. Examining what we focus on in life helps us to realize what is most important to us. This principle is reinforced in Matthew 6:33 when we are instructed to seek God above all else.

What does it mean to live righteously? It is not about keeping the rules. There are two ways we can say yes to God. We can ask God, “What do you want me to do?” Then decide if our answer is yes. The better way to say yes to God is to respond, the answer is yes, now God what do you want? Do you see the difference?

Note this verse states he will give us everything we NEED not necessarily everything we WANT.

Reflection:

What does it mean to you to “seek the Kingdom of God above all else?”

Do you find yourself focusing more on what you are giving up or refocusing on God?

What one thing can you do to strengthen how you seek the Kingdom of God above all else?
